Bonnie Lee Cass Hooks Decker
Bonnie Lee Cass Hooks Decker, age 71, of Lawrence Park, passed away Monday, June 20, 2016. She was born in Erie on July 10, 1944, daughter of the late Clayton and Nellie Cass.
Bonnie was a 1962 graduate of Harbor Creek High School, receiving her undergraduate degree from Slippery Rock College and a Master's degree from Edinboro University. She was a school teacher for the Harbor Creek and Wattsburg School Districts and worked as a Field Director and Program Director for Penn Lakes Girl Scout Council, where she was also a national trainer. She was then area manager for the Special Olympics. Bonnie volunteered teaching the Life Support Courses for American Red Cross. Bonnie resided for several years in North Carolina where she also taught. Following retirement she returned to Erie to be close to her family.
Bonnie is survived by her husband, Durward Decker; two daughters, Shannon Hooks and Melissa Hooks; one son, Christopher Hooks (Cassandra); one brother, Edsel Cass (Elizabeth); six grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Samuel Hooks.
Friends will be received at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., 2607 Buffalo Rd. on Friday from 3 p.m. until the time of the Memorial Service at 5 p.m. Interment will be private.
