Ronald J. Rekitt Sr

Ronald J. Rekitt, Sr., age 76, passed away Friday, July 1, 2016 at Manor Care. He was born in Erie on October 4, 1939, son of the late Robert and Marion Hughes Rekitt.

Ronald was a peacetime veteran of the U.S. Army. He was employed with Ampthor Steel as a welder for over 20 years until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing and going for rides in the country.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Bonnie and one son, Robert Rekitt. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Elma Percy Rekitt; one son, Ronald J. Rekitt, Jr. of Erie; three daughters, Brenda Rekitt of Erie, Michelle Dickey (LaMont) of St. Paul, TX and Melissa Rekitt of Erie; two brothers, Donald Rekitt of Erie and Robert Brown of Summit Twp.; two sisters, Cindy LaCoe of FL and Karen Fohler (Chris) of Erie; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, 2607 Buffalo Rd. on Wednesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend a Funeral Service there on Thursday at 10 a.m. Private Interment, Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.

The founder of the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., Constantine "Gus" Dusckas, was born in Titusville, Pennsylvania, on July 22, 1915, the son of Greek immigrants. It has been noted that the Dusckas family had a close relationship with the Drake family of oil well fame.
