Lois J. Semrau

Lois J. Semrau, age 91, of Erie, passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at Rolling Fields Nursing Home in Conneautville, PA. She was born May 29, 1925, in Erie, to the late Fred and Alma Boldt.

Lois was an active member of the First United Methodist Church where she held many leadership roles. She loved singing in the choir and was an avid prayer warrior. Lois enjoyed needlework, gardening and especially tending to her roses. She was known to drop everything to be there for her family and friends. Lois worked as a legal secretary for Gifford, Lay, Johnson and Ridge and after her retirement, she was a classroom teacher's aide at Ridgefield Elementary School.

In addition to her parents, Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Paul M. Semrau and her siblings, Marilyn Caffrey, Frederick Boldt, and Phyllis Boldt. She is survived by her son, Paul (Donna) Semrau, Jr. of Erie; daughter Julie (Robert) Klingler of Conneautville; six grandchildren, Scott (Michele) Semrau, Mark (Datha) Semrau, Kara (Nate) Alsdorf, Molly (Kevin) Gilbert, Bethany (Brian) Sedziol, and Emma Klingler; thirteen great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at First United Methodist Church, 707 Sassafras St., on Saturday, July 9 from 1 pm until the time of the memorial service at 3 pm, conducted by her son-in-law, Rev. Robert Klingler. Interment, Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc. Memorial contributions may be designated to the First United Methodist Church, 707 Sassafras Street, Erie, PA 16501 or a charity of one's choice.

The founder of the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., Constantine "Gus" Dusckas, was born in Titusville, Pennsylvania, on July 22, 1915, the son of Greek immigrants. It has been noted that the Dusckas family had a close relationship with the Drake family of oil well fame.
