Walter D. Lynch

Walter D. "Wally" Lynch, age 87, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2017 at Shannondale Nursing Facility in Knoxville, TN. He was born in Meadville, PA on February 18, 1930, son of the late Alvin and Maude Ames Lynch Rice.

Wally spent most of his adult life living in Lawrence Park and working at the GE plant for 44 years. He was a Lawrence Park Volunteer Fireman for many years and a member of the Erie County Fire Police. Wally loved traveling in his camper, working in his garden and making wooden toys for the Santa's Helpers organization. His hobbies included photography and videography. He is responsible for making lasting memories for his stepchildren, grandchildren and great grandchildren. We will always be thankful for his persistence to make home movies.

The last eleven years of his life were spent in Knoxville, TN, where he enjoyed less snow and more sunshine. Wally loved living nearer to his two stepdaughters and was able to watch his youngest grandson grow into a young man.

Wally was preceded in death by his first wife, Wanda Lynch; his second wife, Myrtle Beute Lynch; his sister, Geraldine Knight; his brother, Edward Rice; and his cousin, Charles Remore. He is survived by his brothers, Raymond Rice, and Eugene Rice. He is also survived by his loving stepchildren, Albert E. Beute (Roberta), Peg Beute (Jane), Pam Beute Masiroff (Bill) and Mary Ann Beute Glover (Jimmy); his grandchildren, Kirk, Lisa, Matt, Amy, Carly, and Sam; and six great-grandchildren, Makena, Emmett, Reese, Oliver, Benjamin and Lucas. Wally is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Wally will always be remembered for his kindness and patience. His energy and work ethic were admired by all. He went about his life in a quiet, dignified way with just the right amount of humor. We are so thankful for his love and care of our mom and all of us.

Family and friends are invited to join us on Thursday, July 13, 2017 to celebrate Wally's life and legacy. Viewing will be at Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., 2607 Buffalo Road, between 11 am and 2 pm with a Memorial Service at 2 pm. Burial will be at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery following the service. Memorials may be made to Ijams Nature Center, 2915 Island Home Avenue, Knoxville, TN, 37920 or to the Lawrence Park Volunteer Fire Dept., 4102 Main St, Erie, PA 16511.
