Dolores C. Verno

Dolores C. Verno, age 88, of Erie, passed away Friday, February 2, 2018 at Sarah Reed Retirement Center. She was born in Erie on July 15, 1929, daughter of the late John and Mary Verno.

Dolores worked at The Villa Motherhouse in the housekeeping department prior to her retirement and was a member of St. Andrew's R.C. Church. She was beloved by her family and always stepped up to the role of being a caregiver whenever the need arose. Dolores loved going to the Senior Center where she enjoyed helping to prepare the lunches. She enjoyed flea markets, playing bingo and participating in her bowling and bocce leagues.

Dolores' survivors include one sister, Carol Bianchi; and several nieces and nephews who adored her. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Arthur, James and Albert Verno; one sister, Marion Verno; and lifelong friend, Charles Bernhardt.

The family would like to thank the staff at Sarah Reed for the many years of wonderful care given to Dolores.

Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc. 536 W. 10th St, on Tuesday, from 9:30 am until the time of the Prayer Service at 10:30 am, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Andrew's R.C. Church at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

The founder of the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., Constantine "Gus" Dusckas, was born in Titusville, Pennsylvania, on July 22, 1915, the son of Greek immigrants. It has been noted that the Dusckas family had a close relationship with the Drake family of oil well fame.
