Rhea A. Hain Bendig

Rhea A. "Red" Hain Bendig, age 93, of Harborcreek, passed away Monday, May 28, 2018 at Brevillier Village. She was born in Erie on May 26, 1925, daughter of the late William and Florence Hain.

Rhea worked at General Electric during World War II and later at Wesleyville Garden Center. She was a member of St. George R.C. Church and enjoyed sewing, flowers and children.

In addition to her parents, Rhea was preceded in death by her husband, Richard William Bendig; sisters, Mary Thorton, Rita Maxwell, Lilly Walsh; and brother, Robert Hain. Survivors include her brother, William Hain; her children, Diane Fritz, Phyllis Zaun, Jeanne Striney, Gail Tryon and Judith Bendig; her grandchildren, James and Diane Fritz; Mark, Matthew, Michael and David Zaun, Michelle Podolec, Jeanine Bello, Rebecca Gallagher, Anthony Striney, Sarah Striney, Richard and William Tryon; and eight great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., 2607 Buffalo Rd., on Friday from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm and are invited to attend a Funeral Mass on Saturday at 11 am at St. George R.C. Church. Memorial contributions may be designated to Brevillier Village, 5416 East Lake Road, Erie, PA 16511.

The founder of the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., Constantine "Gus" Dusckas, was born in Titusville, Pennsylvania, on July 22, 1915, the son of Greek immigrants. It has been noted that the Dusckas family had a close relationship with the Drake family of oil well fame.
