Maryann Edler

Maryann Edler, age 83, residing at Barnabas Court North at Brevillier Village, passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2018. She was born in Erie on June 3, 1935, daughter of the late Matthew and Jennie Kalista.

Maryann was the Supervisor of Voter Registration for Erie County prior to her retirement. She was a member of St. James R.C. Church and active with the Keenagers, and American Legion Carl Neff Post 571 Auxiliary. She was a longtime bowler in the bowling leagues at Eastway Lanes. Maryann was an artist and gifted painter and enjoyed gardening. While living at Brevillier Village, she enjoyed helping in their gardens and giving rides to friends.

Maryann is survived by two daughters, Janice Menteer and Diana Heister; sister, Josephine Donahue; brother, Michael Kalista (Nancy Ann); seven grandchildren, Frances and Jason Slater, Trevor Menteer, Rachel Zeches, Laurel Fletcher, Victoria Heister, and Anthony Pieri; two great-grandchildren, Hailey Slater and Nora Fletcher; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Edler; and one daughter, Norma Jean Zeches.

Friends may call at the Dusckas-Taylor Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. , 5151 Buffalo Road (at Hannon Rd. in Harborcreek Twp.) on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 and are invited to attend a Prayer Service there on Saturday at 10:45am followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:30 am at St. James R.C. Church. Interment will follow at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be designated to Asera Care Hospice, 1600 Peninsula Drive, Erie, PA 16505 or Brevillier Village Chapel Fund, 5416 East Lake Road, Erie, PA 16511.

The founder of the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., Constantine "Gus" Dusckas, was born in Titusville, Pennsylvania, on July 22, 1915, the son of Greek immigrants. It has been noted that the Dusckas family had a close relationship with the Drake family of oil well fame.
