Elinor Grunzel

Our beloved Mother, Elinor Grunzel, age 90, departed from this world on June 29, 2018 at St. Mary's Home of Erie, lovingly surrounded by her family. She was the daughter of the late Florence and Zigmund Golembeski. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Zigmund, Raymond, Leonard, and Edward, and sisters, Jean Paparazzo and Terry Wycech and former husband, Henry Grunzel.

Elinor was born on May 29, 1928 in Erie, PA and attended Academy High School. She worked many years at General Electric and at St. Mary's Home. She had many fond memories and special friends from her time at St. Mary's. She loved time spent outdoors planting flowers and sitting on her glider with her cats. Elinor was always ready for a game of scrabble and loved her bus trips to the casinos. Her greatest treasure was her family. She adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She always thought of others before herself and helped in any way she could.

Elinor's passing leaves behind her children, Patricia Gloekler (Marty), David (Pamela), Donald, Jeffrey, Linda Fiedtkou (Arvin), and Sandra Tighe (Patrick). In addition, 11 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Mary's who showed great compassion and care for Elinor.

Friends will be received at the Dusckas-Taylor Funeral Home and Crematory, 5151 Buffalo Road (Harborcreek), on Thursday, July 5, from 2 to 7 p.m. Further visitation will be held on Friday at St. Mary's Home of Erie, Chapel at 26th and Reed Street, from 10 a.m. until the time of the Memorial Mass at 11am. A private interment will be held.

About Dusckas

The founder of the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., Constantine "Gus" Dusckas, was born in Titusville, Pennsylvania, on July 22, 1915, the son of Greek immigrants. It has been noted that the Dusckas family had a close relationship with the Drake family of oil well fame.
