Louis P. Hesch

Louis P. Hesch, age 84, of Harborcreek, passed away Sunday, July 1, 2018 at the Erie VA Medical Center Hospice Unit. He was born in Erie on August 22, 1933 son of the late Charles and Lenora Hesch.

Louis was a graduate of Harbor Creek High School and then entered U.S. Army. He served in Fukuoka, Japan during the Korean War. While in Japan, Louis was an x-ray technician that was attached to all branches of the service. Following his discharge, he was in the Navy Reserves for several years.

Louis worked for Gillespie's, General Electric, Litton Industries, and then in the Marine Division of Zurn Industries prior to his retirement. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Siebenbuerger Club, and American Legion Carl Neff Post 571. Louis was gifted in woodworking and enjoyed family camping.

Louis is survived by his wife, Blanche Hesch; his daughter, Dorie DeMatteis (Dr. James); his son, Ricky Hesch (Maura); grandchildren, James and Renee DeMatteis, Emily, Phillip and Nicholas Hesch; step grandson, Aaron DeMatteis; step great-granddaughter, Lilly; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles, Richard, Jacob and Robert Hesch, and his sisters, Violet Edwards, Shirley Boyd, and Phyllis Little.

Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, 2607 Buffalo RD, on Tuesday from 3 pm until the time of the Funeral Service at 6 pm. Military honors will follow conducted by Carl Neff Post 571. Private interment will be held at Wintergreen Gorge cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Erie VA Medical Center Hospice Program, 135 E. 38th St., Erie, Pa. 16504.

The founder of the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., Constantine "Gus" Dusckas, was born in Titusville, Pennsylvania, on July 22, 1915, the son of Greek immigrants. It has been noted that the Dusckas family had a close relationship with the Drake family of oil well fame.
