Dorothy Jones Orton

Dorothy Jones Orton, age 78, passed away on Monday, June 25, 2018. She was born on September 22, 1939, the only child of the late Marguerite Hain and Harold G. Jones.

Dotty graduated from Academy High School in 1957 and attended Mercyhurst College for a year before going on to work at Prudential Insurance Company for 5 years. She then went on to work at General Electric Co. for 30 years, retiring in 1998. After their marriage in 2000, Ron and Dotty spent their winters in Florida and summers in Erie. They joined GEER, a group of GE Retirees and spent many happy hours traveling the U.S., Canada and abroad with this group. She was a longtime member of Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, where she had served as a Deacon.

Dotty is survived by her husband of 18 years, Ronald C. Orton; her son, Dennis P. Weed, of Edinboro; her daughter, Marcia Aster of DE; stepchildren, Jeffrey Orton (Mary), Janice Orton (Jim Berchem), and Jill Zak (John); grandchildren, Matt Orton (Alison), Jessica Appoloni (Jeremy), Julia Zak, and Jackie Zak; one great-grandson, Henry Orton; and her beloved dog, Bree. She was preceded in death by her former husband, Dennis Weed

Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., 2607 Buffalo Rd., on Friday from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm and are invited to attend a Funeral Service at Emmanuel Presbyterian Church on Saturday at 11 am conducted by Rev. Rick Cepris. Interment will follow at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, 3520 Perry Street, Erie, PA 16504 or the Erie City Mission, 1023 French Street, Erie, PA 16501.

About Dusckas

The founder of the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., Constantine "Gus" Dusckas, was born in Titusville, Pennsylvania, on July 22, 1915, the son of Greek immigrants. It has been noted that the Dusckas family had a close relationship with the Drake family of oil well fame.
