- SYMPATHY NOTE
James "Jim" Pettinato, age 77, of Lawrence Park passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday, June 26, 2018. He was born on March 1, 1941, son of the late Raymond and Helen Ballough Pettinato of Harborcreek.
Jim leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 56 years, Judy Wehrle Pettinato; his children, James, Christopher, Kathryn (Craig) Miller, and Anne Pettinato; and his joy, grandchildren, Megan and Mark, Taylor and Erynn, Craig Jr., Benjamin, Mary Grace, Joseph and Elizabeth "Ellie". Jim is further survived by his sister, Patricia "Tish" Affronte (Joe); his in-laws Gary Wehrle (Eileen), Peggy Sansone (Nick), and Cindy Morgan (Herb); many aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many great friends, including "the gang". In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Raymond and Albert; and his sister, Elizabeth "Betsy" Lumm.
Jim was a member of St. James Catholic Church, the first of three generations to be baptized there. His was a quiet but deep faith in God.
Jim's entire career was in retail, starting as a stockboy at Miller's department store and continuing there, advancing to store manager and eventually regional supervisor. After Miller's closed, he worked for D&K stores, overseeing multiple locations in the NY/PA/OH area. He finished his career at and retired from the Rite-Aid pharmacy chain.
Jim was a four year sport high school athlete at Harbor Creek High School, graduating with the great class of 1959. He was an avid and accomplished golfer and a loyal Browns and Indians fan. He was a member of the Downing Golf Club, the Lawrence Park Athletic Club and the East Erie Moose Club Lodge 593.
The family would like to extend their gratitude and appreciation for all of those that provided care for our husband, father and brother.
Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., 2607 Buffalo Rd., on Friday from 4 to 7 pm and are invited to attend a Prayer Service there on Saturday at 9:30 am followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 am at St. James R.C. Church. Private interment will be held. Memorial contributions may be designated to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38101, or to the charity of one's choice.
