- SYMPATHY NOTE
Charles N. Ploss
Charles Nelis Ploss, son of the late Nelis E. Ploss and Lenora Sivernail Ploss Cox, born April 21, 1929, passed away peacefully in his home in Renton, WA on Saturday, June 9, 2018.
Charles was highly regarded and loved by all who knew him as a man of strength, integrity and character. He retired from Smith Meter of Erie, PA after nearly 30 years of service as a lead tool designer. He was his family's historian, working alongside Patricia Walters, tracing the Ploss family to the 17th century-a work in progress that kept him busy for more than 50 years and resulted in a published genealogy and genogram. He enjoyed keeping fit by walking, playing with his grandchildren and doing crossword puzzles. Charles was proud to help his daughter, Normajean train for Susan G. Komen walks, often walking more than 10 miles at a time with her. He also enjoyed gardening, caring for his dogs and eating dinner at his favorite restaurants, Mitzel's of Renton, WA and Russ' Dinor of Wesleyville, PA.
Charles is survived by his three children, David Gaskin of Renton, WA, Normajean Jacobs nee Gaskin of Renton, WA and Catherine Heil nee Gaskin of Glendale, AZ; four grandchildren, Rachel Howe, Holly Gaskin, Angel Mossberg, and Christine Mason; four great-grandchildren, Kimberly Plyer, Zachary Jacobs, Maya Mossberg, and Samantha Mossberg; two great-great-grandchildren, Johnathon Jacobs and Athena Plyer; brother, Johnnie Ploss; three sisters, Wilma Hawkins, Lila Hoover, and Helen Wolf; two sisters-in-law, Patricia Ploss, and Linda Ploss; brother-in-law, Ed Garske; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel Marie Ploss nee Bull; brothers, Raymond Spears, Kenneth Spears, Amos York, Sheldon Ploss, Frank Ploss, Raymond Horn, and Nelis T. Ploss; sisters, Lorna Chrzanowski, Lynda Dyne, Ethel Kalke, Lavina Brown-Patch-Frew, Marian Herbe, Alice Wade, Gladys Garske, Lilian Takach, and Wanita Orzechowski.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Graveside Service today, Thursday, June 14 at Laurel Hill Cemetery at 11 am. Funeral arrangements were handled by the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc.
